Never Letting Go
"DarkRoom: Now Celebrated in The Brooklyn Rail!"
Lately, we have been working hard and cooking up a handful of new screenings, and get this: our very first piece of print publicity! The multi-talented Stephanie Monahan (check our her excellent illustration work) wrote about DarkRoom for The Brooklyn Rail, one of our favorite NYC publications. Read all about it.
We were delighted to be joined by legendary documentary filmmaker Alex Megaro for a special DarkRoom Screening at Ryan Bockโs YOUNG AMERICANS Satellite Art Show in Manhattan. Alex discussed themes of American security and its effects on everyday citizens, using films crafted solely from archival footage, which lends itself a strong semblance of immediacy to the material while giving the audience room to absorb the actions and misdirections of our own government in real time. We return on Wednesday July 22 for another secret shorts block.

โข One of our favorite musicians is the multi-faceted Alex Zhang Hungtai (Dirty Beaches, Last Lizard, etc). He has released a fantastic new sonic record: โAs Orion/Mother unfolds, Zhangโs trumpet flies above thrumming electronics (โEarth Orbitโ), navigates percussion strikes (โMotherโ), communes with explosive sounds (โSidewinderโ), or melts into silence.โ Suggested listening.

~ ~ FILM RECOMMENDATION ~ ~
Hypnotic new music video by Joao de Botelho, starring Vicky Krieps: โThis project took two years of hard workโtrial and error, countless reschedules, and a lot of persistence. The challenge was to expose the same film negative 30 times! the same way. with the same stedicam movement. To get it flawlessly overlaid. Iโm so grateful to the entire team and everyone who made this possible.โ Read more HERE.
