The Third Face
"Film is a battleground." – Sam Fuller
Thank you for helping us kick off this year with such an incredible DarkRoom Screening & Salon. We were elated that everyone braved the winter storm to join us in the crowded backroom in celebration of independent and underground cinema. So many never-before-seen films and surprises – you really should be here! Extra special thanks to the filmmakers who traveled from afar to showcase their work, and to all the new faces who showed up. 😊 We hope to see you at another DarkRoom soon.

Monday, February 16: DarkRoom presents: Patchwork Shorts at Alphaville! A special curation from Brenna Power: “The finished collection of films shown this evening hosted by Non Films run the gambit in terms of tone, genre, and feel, but are all the result of brilliant artists working at the top of their game, hours of sweat in the NYC summer heat, and a little bit of miracle. We hope that you’ll join us!” Please RSVP and bring cash for donations.
Tuesday, February 24: A very special Guest-Curated DarkRoom Screening takes place again at Freddy’s, this time courtesy of filmmaker Sarah Bex Rice. Doors 8pm • Films 9pm. 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 to attend + donations encouraged. This one secret lineup you won’t wanna miss.
Monday, March 9: Nitehawk Prospect Park! Mark your calendar. Details forthcoming…
Free limited edition zines will be available exclusively at each screening.
* If you are interested in screening a short film at DarkRoom, please use THIS FORM and send us your work. We cannot promise a response to every submission, but we do watch each film and will respond to you well in advance of the date to confirm your availability.

~ ~ FILM RECOMMENDATION ~ ~
Apichatpong Weerasethakul is one of the greatest filmmakers working today. He has helmed some incredible features (Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, Tropical Malady, Memoria) but his short films often get overlooked. Blue (2019) is masterful piece of liminal filmmaking, and one of our favorites. Darken the lights, tuck in, and meditate with this one.
