The screening will take place in The Press Room directly to the right once you enter the Alamo doors. 𝐅𝐑𝐄𝐄 to attend + donations encouraged for artists, curated by Brian Ratigan and William George-Louis. Filmmakers are scheduled to attend, and you don’t wanna miss this edition!

• The 26th annual Sidewalk Film Festival is almost here! New features by Lucy Kerr (Family Portrait), Joel Potrykus (Vulcanizadora), Zoe Eisenberg (Chaperone), Christopher Jason Bell & Mitch Blummer (Failed State), Ruth Leitman (“No One Asked You”), Alfred Giancarli (Weeknights), Erika Arlee (A Song For Imogene), Law Chen (Starring Jerry as Himself), Kevin Schreck (Antarctic Voyage), and numerous short film programs happen during a packed weekend in historic downtown Birmingham, AL. Get your tickets!

• Thank you to everyone who entered the collaborative giveaway between Janus Films and Non Films! The two lucky winners have been chosen and their prizes of Criterion Blu-Rays of FANTASTIC PLANET have been shipped to them. Please go see the new 4K restoration of René Laloux’s sophomore animated feature THE TIME MASTERS at IFC Center.

• One of our favorite recent films is Bertrand Bonello’s The Beast, and HERE is an excellent interview from Filmmaker Magazine between him and Michael Almereyda. The film also joins the Criterion Channel as of August 1.

• Writer and film programmer Steve Macfarlane interviewed the legendary Claire Denis and Isaach de Bankhole about their film No Fear, No Die for Screen Slate and it is a worthy read.

• Despite some sad news today from David Lynch, his recently released record with Chrystabell Cellophane Memories is really wonderful, especially the track “The Answers to the Questions.”

• R.I.P. experimental video artist Bill Viola (January 25, 1951 – July 12, 2024). Not nearly as well-known as he should have been in his lifetime, but this interview “Cameras are Keepers of the Souls” from the Louisiana Channel is worth your time.

SALAD FINGERS 20th ANNIVERSARY SPECIAL! David Firth is a mad genius, and was nice enough to allow us to screen this and a few episodes at the most recent DarkRoom. Before the world of viral videos, AMSR, and even streaming YouTube as we know it, Mr. Fingers was always there for us. This should probably be mandatory viewing for anyone who has read this far.
